“World’s Biggest Holi” in the city of Dreams just marked one of India’s biggest music industry collaborations: Martin Garrix and Arijit Singh

Living in India or a fan of Bollywood music, it is no brainer to be not knowing the name “Arijit Singh”, one of the most celebrated Indian artists on Spotify. Born in a Bengali/Punjabi family, with ancestral roots from Lahore, Singh has been a sensation in the Indian music industry since his inception. He idolized musicians like Bade Ghulam Ali KhanUstad Rashid KhanZakir Hussain and Anand Chatterjee, and enjoyed listening to Kishore KumarHemant Kumar, and Manna Dey, a blend of musical legends from across the subcontinental borders since childhood

Having a unique and natural voice termed as “nasal” by himself, Singh has been delivering hits one after the other for almost close to 2 decades, making him a global music sensation from India. This is not new for his fans though. But things started getting interesting recently when he was sharing posts with his favorite buddy/brother from another mother, chart topping Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix  on his social media handles

Collaboration : Angels for Each other: From Murshidabad to Mumbai

It was kind of becoming evident for Singh’s fans, when the man from the Suburbs of Amstelveen, Netherlands made his trip to Jiaganj in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal, Arijit’s hometown. Martin’s social media handles started flooding with messages from fans all over the world when the DJ documented the process of his collaboration for the song with Singh. Martin described in his own words “ This is the craziest transport I’ve ever had going to the studio” while he had to cross a river to get to the Indian singer’s home. The two artists spent a full 4 days together to get the best “Angels for Each Other” in the town which is about 227 kilometers north of the “City of Joy”, Kolkata.

Martin’s love affair with India just did not end here with the recording. He was then destined to witness and play in the world’s biggest Holi Party celebration that happened in Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium on March 14th with 50,000 odd fans. The party which went on for nearly 2 and a half hours, where the Indian audiences were made to immerse with colors of joy and dance music by the World’s Number 1 DJ alongside the breathtaking melody of Arijit Singh. The icing on the cake just happened when the duo ended up singing, dancing and exchanging hugs on stage for their latest collaboration “Angels For Each Other”. Cheers roared in for both the artists, while Martin also mentioned about him being a part of the audience recently when Chris Martin’s Cold Play made their appearance in Mumbai this January 2025 which left audience in splits.

The anthemic and upbeat track seamlessly brings together Arijit Singh’s exceptional vocal talent with Garrix’s unmatched production building into grandeur for the heartfelt song. Arijit, a true musical icon whose influence knows no borders, has taken a bold step as he went on to sing in English for the first time, seamlessly blending it with his iconic Hindi vocals. On the other side, Arijit has been  able to get the best out of Garrix’s voice in the fusion, where signing comes second to the DJ from Amstelveen.

Arjit Singh with nearly 140 million followers and 44 Million listeners on Spotify, his global reach is a testament to his unparalleled impact. “Angel’s For Each Other” beautifully celebrates the simplicity of life and the power of compassion, showcasing both Arijit’s and Garrix’s extraordinary ability to connect with audiences around the world. This musical collaboration with Martin Garrix that transcends beyond borders, could mean Arijit Singh to be destined for bigger heights and become yet another Indian to be part of one of world’s biggest musical festival ‘s Tomorrowland in the near future to showcase a fusion of classical Indian music with contemporary electronic beats. Only time will tell and as fans let us hope for the best!
